Dr. Emi Kiyota is the founder of Ibasho, socially-integrated, sustainable communities that value their elders. She is an environmental gerontologist and a consultant who implements person-centered care in long-term care facilities and hospitals globally. Her current interest is to create socially-integrated and resilient cities where elders are able to live in their communities and be engaged. She has published journal articles and book chapters and serves on the board of directors of Global Aging Network. She has been awarded fellowships to investigate this topic including the Loeb Fellowship at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Rockefeller Bellagio Residency Fellowship, and Atlantic Fellowship for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute at UCSF.
